BEGINNING: Entering 11th Standard

Speaking of myself, I did'nt knew anything about IIT-JEE, AIEEE, BISAT, etc., infact I had not heard these names ever before except for GUJCET (Gujarat Engg. College Entrance Examination). The main reason for these was that I was first in my family to take Science Stream. It was through one of my friend who enlightened me about JEE & AIEEE and recommended me to start its preparation from 11th itself. Today, I thank that friend for introducing me the prospects of clearing IIT-JEE & AIEEE. Now, coming back to business from my fables let's discuss our topic for the day.

Feeling during first few months

-  The Simple answer is 'Enthusiastic'. You feel
motivated the most during this period. Each
& every student feels he/she has what it takes
to crack IIT-JEE. Yes, you are on the right
path, and this self-belief should sustain this
enthusiasm for the rest of 2 years.

-  The next thought but obvious to come to your mind is "Oh Man! There's too much
of Competition." You would be surprised to know that every year about Five Lakh
students appear for IIT-JEE and more than Ten Lakhs give AIEEE. Tensed by
this numbers ? There is nothing to be worried because the tough competition is just
between top 20,000 (for JEE). About a Lakh students give JEE just to try their luck.
If you study even 3-4 hours daily consistently you will find your place in this top 20,000.

Do's and Dont's

-  The age old formula which you might have heard many times before that, inculcate
the habit of 'asking doubts'. This was perhaps my major mistake due to which
I could not get into the IITs. Questions asked in JEE are mostly conceptual so,
clear your concepts with your teachers without any hesitation.

-   Do not make the mistake of neglecting your Board Studies. Take out some time
according to your convenience every week for Board Studies or else you will  get
out of touch from your JEE preparation after your Board Exams.

-   Solve your Sheets/Materials immediately and try to finish it as early as possible or
else you would be surrounded by all kinds of unfinished sheets after wards. Also
try beginning from easy questions rather jumping directly to JEE lvel question
because if you do this get discouraged & frustrated after spending (wasting) most of
your precious time on those questions.

The first thought that might come to your mind after reading this post is that "We have heard all this before." Yes, you might have heard all this before but even then, most of the students fail to implement just like a saying - "No One Plans to Fail, but Everyone Fails to Plan."
